“If you’re expecting a big agave bomb, this probably isn’t going to be your thing. The stout barrel is front and center. But if you judge it for what it is instead of what you think it should be, it’s fantastic. First thing I got was chocolate and roasted coffee with just enough agave sweetness to remind you it’s still tequila. It’s rich, dessert-like, and almost dangerously easy to drink. I could honestly see someone putting away half a bottle before they even realized it. I know bottles like this get people asking, “Is it still tequila?” Fair question. All I know is it’s delicious. The barrel finish adds a ton without completely burying the spirit underneath. It sold out in about 90 minutes, and after finally trying it, I’d say it deserves the hype. It’s one of the more unique pours I’ve had in a long time, and I’d happily grab another bottle if I came across one.”

Aguasol Tequila Reposado
“Lightly aged and well restrained. Cooked agave is still present, supported by soft vanilla, gentle oak, and mild baking spice. The barrel influence adds roundness without masking the agave or pushing sweetness. Overall: A balanced, easy-going reposado that stays agave-centric and doesn’t lean heavy on oak. ”

Aguasol Tequila Blanco
“Bright and clean with an agave-first profile. Cooked agave leads, followed by citrus peel, light pepper, and a subtle herbal note. Fresh and crisp on the palate with good bite and no added sweetness. Straightforward and honest. Overall: A clean, agave-forward blanco that keeps things simple and easy to drink.”

Tequila Cambio Añejo
“More settled than the repo. Oak, vanilla, and light caramel come through with less wine influence, and the agave has a little more room to breathe. Still barrel-driven, but better integrated and less aggressive than the reposado. Overall: The most balanced of the lineup. Still barrel-led, but smoother and more cohesive than the repo.”

Tequila Cambio Reposado
“The wine barrel influence is front and center here. Cooked agave takes a back seat to red fruit, grape skin, and tannic oak notes. There’s sweetness, but it’s more vinous than vanilla-driven. The barrel choice clearly shapes the profile. Overall: Very wine-barrel-forward reposado. If you like noticeable barrel character and wine influence, this will hit. If you want agave-first repos, this may feel heavy-handed.”

Tequila Cambio Blanco
“This blanco leans noticeably lactic. Cooked agave is there, but it’s wrapped in creamy, dairy-like notes that give it a softer, rounder profile. Think yogurt/creaminess alongside light citrus and gentle pepper. Mouthfeel is smooth, almost plush for a blanco. Overall: A lactic-leaning blanco that’s more creamy than sharp. Not for everyone, but if you like that soft, rounded style, this one fits the bill. ”

El Ateo Añejo Ultra Premium
“A well-balanced añejo that leans more refined than sweet. The nose opens with cooked agave, vanilla, and toasted oak, followed by light caramel, baking spice, and a subtle nutty note. Nothing loud or artificial — just clean and composed. On the palate, it’s smooth and structured. Cooked agave still shows, backed by vanilla, honeyed oak, light cinnamon, and a touch of pepper. The barrel influence is controlled, avoiding the syrupy or overly woody profile that can weigh añejos down. The finish is medium-long, warm, and clean, with oak, agave, and soft spice fading out evenly.”

El Ateo Antimateria Extra Añejo
“This is a rich, well-integrated XA that leans elegant rather than flashy. On the nose, you get cooked agave layered with dark caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and a touch of dried fruit. There’s depth here, but it stays composed — nothing overly sweet or sharp. The palate is smooth and structured. Cooked agave is still present, backed by toffee, cocoa, oak spice, and a light bitterness that keeps it from drifting into dessert territory. The oak is mature and polished, not tannic or drying. The finish is long, warm, and steady — oak, agave, and dark sweetness fade out evenly without becoming cloying.”

Montagave Blanco Las Rocas
“This is one of my favorite blancos for a reason. Bright, expressive, and very agave-forward. The nose hits with cooked agave, citrus peel, and minerality, followed by light pepper and herbal notes. It smells fresh and alive, not muted or overly polished. On the palate, it’s clean and vibrant — cooked agave leads, with citrus, black pepper, and a subtle mineral/rocky note that gives it structure. There’s a nice balance between sweetness and bite, and the texture has just enough weight without feeling oily. The finish is crisp and lingering, with agave, pepper, and minerality hanging around just long enough to make you want another sip.”

The barrel influence is present but not heavy, and it avoids the syrupy sweetness that can make añejos cloying. Medium-length finish, warm and clean, with oak and agave fading out evenly.”

Valor High Proof Blanco
“This one’s straight-up Valley tequila through and through. Cooked agave front and center with some citrus, a little salt, and that earthy backbone you expect from Los Valles. The 47 ABV hits perfect — gives you that extra flavor and texture without being hot or heavy. Nose: Bright agave, lime peel, light spice, hint of wet stone. Palate: Rich agave sweetness, pepper, a touch of brine, and clean minerality. Finish: Long, dry, and balanced. Great neat or in a solid cocktail.”

Valor Batch Dos Blanco
“Man, they really leveled up with this one. Still got that clean Valley agave backbone, but this batch feels brighter and way more fruit-forward. Nose: Cooked agave, lime peel, a little pineapple, and that fresh grassy vibe that makes you wanna pour another glass. Palate: Smooth and silky — citrus and green fruit up front, light sweetness, balanced by a touch of minerality. Finish: Dry, clean, and just enough pepper to remind you it’s still tequila. Less creamy than Batch Uno, more agave and fruit in the spotlight. Honestly, I might even like this more than their High Proof… and that’s saying something. Good sipper or for high quality cocktails ”

Tierra de Ensueño Tequila Blanco
“Batch 4 - I really enjoyed this batch. I didn’t have the opportunity to compare it to others but the nose is great. You can tell it was rested but the agave is still present. On the palate I get citrus, floral characteristics, minerals and a hint of lime. This is a great up and coming brand and I can’t wait until it is on shelves in Texas ”
