Just good. Nothing great here unfortunately.
Sweeter finish than the regular release. Prefer the regular over this special release. A little too sweet for my palate
Retro label and a new formula! Sign me up for a bottle. The new Clásico is a blend of whiskey and sherry barrels, and the sherry really comes through. So does the newer barrels with some vanilla and marshmallow. Lots darker than the standard repo. Easy drinker.
Video review. Will do proper right up later.
Nice barrel nose and palate. An easy sipper. I prefer the Blanco
G4 clásico repo Sample from Ned Olsen Nose: Off the bat i got some malolactic notes, which i'm not used to getting with G4. But, after letting it sit and open up, the malolactic notes went away. I got barrel spices, some alcohol, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon Palate: barrel spice, vanilla, caramel, some herbal notes, pepper and oak on the finish
Awesome mouthfeel on this, nice and viscous . On the pallet it’s soft but full of flavor with agave, slight oak, cinnamon and barrel spices with butterscotch, with a white pepper finish
Old school flavor, my favorite offering from G4 to date
I was looking for something that had more agave flavor. This was my first G4 and I am thinking I should have tried one of the standards first.
Flavor and finish a notch below standard G4 Reposado for me.
30/05/2025 LG0001RCE Nose: vanilla, cooked agave, earthy, oak, black pepper Taste: oak, vanilla, cooked agave, black pepper Finish: cinnamon, oak, black pepper,
Aroma of cherry and honey. Palette has a lot cherry at times but at others tastes like a more full bodied version of their normal repo. Tasted blind alongside standard g4 repo and I preferred the clasico at first, then as I drank the rest I realized that although the standard g4 has a less varied flavor profile I think it’s more consistent for me. The finish is very nice on this one too though, a fun one-off release for sure.
Another winner from G4. The sherry cask adds a nice dimension to the Reposado. I also like the bit of fibers added to the fermentation.
Aroma:(22) agave, black pepper, dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon Taste: (27) dried fruit, oak, taste the sherry barrel influence. Finish: (22) lingering fruit & agave Overall:(85) $129 from driftwood spirits. Value(4) The sherry influence makes me prefer G4 regular Reposado.
Lot LG0001RCE 30/05/2025 Aroma: roasted agave, caramel, and some vanilla Flavor: rich deep agave flavors that match the aroma Mouthfeel: medium body and only a slight alcohol tingle across the middle of my tongue Finish: nice long finish that lingers sweet Color: light straw
The blend of barrels really comes through on this tequila. Awesome smell with agave, oak, vanilla and fruit. The taste is even better. Very well balanced. Nice barrel influence and flavors of agave, anise, oak, cherry, vanilla along with some pepper and citrus. A pleasant finish that stays with you for some time. I prefer the regular repo due to the sweetness of this one.
me gusta mucho mas que el reposado regular, tiene mas presencoa de barrica sim perder de vista el agave, tiene el toque dulce del sherry oak en la proporcion ideal
The aroma is extremely loud and wonderful. Shades of lactic funk, leather and vanilla which transfers to the palate the finish is long and eventful, slow walking you thru the different levels of flavor on this wonderful expression.
Aroma: Opens with a vibrant wave of roasted agave and warm earth, underscored by fresh green herbal tones. As it settles, layers of vanilla, toasted oak, and a subtle caramel sweetness emerge, lifted by a faint minerality that hints at G4’s natural water source. There’s also a soft dried fruit note that comes from the sherry cask with mild baking spices. Flavor: Silky and well structured on the palate. Sweet cooked agave takes center stage with a nice peppery kick. The oak is noticeable but never too much. It brings some vanilla, toasted nuts, light butterscotch, and a little cinnamon. The sweetness is balanced out nicely with that same clean minerality from the nose. Everything feels really well put together and balanced. Finish: Long, clean, and satisfying. The pepper fades into warming agave and soft spice, with a touch of dried fruit reappearing at the end. There’s a gentle earthiness throughout that brings it all back to that G4 we know.

Nose: It opens with a distinct note that immediately recalls an old cigar box left empty for years - dry oak, sweet tobacco, and a light worn leather character. Herbal tones sit just beneath that, with agave and a steady mineral presence holding it together. A touch of cinnamon lifts through the back end, adding warmth without pushing too far forward. Palate & Mouthfeel: Medium and slightly slick on the tongue, carrying a clear mix of sweet agave and oak from the start. The flavors from the nose follow through naturally without feeling heavy. There’s a familiarity here that hits on a personal level, bringing me right back to my dad and the cigar box he kept on his dresser filled with loose change. That memory comes through in the profile without overwhelming it. The flavors stay clear, composed, and well balanced. Finish: Cinnamon and agave linger the longest, leaving behind a gentle, sweet warmth that hangs on without becoming cloying. Final Thoughts: This is a really enjoyable shift from the standard repo profile, offering more depth and character while still feeling easy to come back to. The personal connection makes it stand out even more for me, and it’s a shame it’s a limited release because it’s one I’d keep around without hesitation.
