Nose: Agave is present but quickly joined by whiskey like tones and assertive barrel spice. Stone fruit adds a rounder sweetness, while sweet potato brings an earthy depth. Caramel softens it all, giving the nose a layered mix of earth, oak, and confection. Palate & Mouthfeel: The entry hits bold, with agave poking through before a surge of barrel driven spice takes over. It’s a spice bomb, but one carried by salted toffee notes that keep the intensity in check. The mouthfeel is firm and energetic, matching the elevated proof. Finish: The close leans into dessert territory with burnt sugar, oak sweetness, and lingering richness. It’s indulgent and lasting, with the barrel leaving a clear imprint. Final Thoughts: This one comes straight at you with both proof and oak influence. For my taste it tips a little too far toward the barrel, but there’s no denying the richness and impact. I admire the character and the unapologetic style, even if it’s not perfectly in balance.

not bad. Subtle nose and palate

Great nose, cooked agave, cherries, chocolate, baking spice. Palate is sweet cooked agave, barrel notes pitted fruit with slight pepper finish.

Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Oak, Dried Fig, Carmel, Vanilla, Cinnamon Palate: Clove, Cinnamon, Nutmeg Finish: Oak, Toffee, Vanilla, Bruleed Sugar Wow! Much like you'd expect for a 9 year, oak undoubtedly dominates this one. The profile is rich and robust throughout. On the palate, I got darker spices, like clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The finish brought back that familiar oak, along with some sweeter notes as well. Excellent XA!
