As with other Codigio offerings the aroma is subtle but I detect a touch more cooked agave than with their other expressions. I think something may have gone wrong with the bottle I sampled. I tasted this alongside several other Codigo expressions and this had a foul taste that wasn’t present in the others.

The aroma is very light with notes of pear. The flavor is floral and fruity. I detect just a hint of funk on the finish.

I don’t get much of an aroma from this. It’s mostly un-notable. The flavor has some bitterness, but the red mine barrel flavor is subtle and nice. The bitterness carries through the finish. It’s ok but not great.

Overall ok to good. Aroma is nice but rosas aren’t my thing. The bitterness in the taste and finish is meh to ok.

The aroma opens, light, yet readable. French oak leads, followed by honey, toasted almond, hazelnut, anise, and wintergreen. Molasses and orange citrus add depth, while the cooked agave sits quietly in the background with a faint, well-integrated ethyl. On the palate, the French oak fully takes center stage. It’s joined by anise and wintergreen, creating a sarsaparilla tone, while butteriness and light pepperiness give it structure. Tangy orange citrus cuts through, alongside bitter cocoa, honeyed tobacco, and a touch of salinity that keeps things familiar. The finish leans citrus-forward with light pepperiness and lingering salinity, carrying into a subtle leather note. Right at the end, there’s a faint wine-like tone that shows up in the throat, which I didn’t expect but actually works.

A little too fruity for me. Not gonna lie, the only reason I bought the bottle was because it had King George on it! I’m a fan of anything George Strait!
