Aroma has a medicinal off-putting note that I can’t get past. The rep says it is fermented in a way that promotes the malolactic. I agree in that it has a yucky funk (name of my college band). The finish continues with the over- funkiness. No thanks.

I had high hopes for this one. I am concerned it may have been a bad bottle. I smelled nothing like most artisanal tequilas. It had a stale bread aroma. Sour. Taste was not much better. I love George Strait and I hope this was just a bad bottle. A second tasting was better but not great.

Herbal, earthy and grassy aromas, coupled with anise, cooked agave, grapefruit citrus, and some light spice notes. Akin to smelling an agave in the soil. The flavor blends a pleasant mouthfeel that is mellow at first but ends on a burst of herbal citrus, anise, and earthy agave. A dry finish, lingering notes remain of black pepper, herbs, as well as some lactic elements, a light bitterness, and some alcohol bite.

Agave and grass on the nose agave. Nice sweetness on the palate. No heat, nice finish. I enjoy it. The sweetness from the agave really shines here mid palate. Price really hurts it. Steep bottle

Heavy on the anise and pepper, minty and mineral. May not appeal to everyone.

Grassy agave nose that pulls me in. Sweet agave with the right amount of pepper on the palate. A little pricey but nicely done, I’ll drink more of this.

Codigo 1530 - Still Strength Blanco - This unique single batch blanco was made with estate grown agaves and then produced and bottled at their single brand distillery. They fermented the musto in their used Napa Valley Cabernet French white oak wine barrels. That’s small batch open air fermentation. - This tequila valley additive free still strength blanco is 90 proof - 45% ABV. - The cooked agave is predominant but it’s accompanied buy some other robust aromas. Bright citrus zest; lemon, lime & grapefruit. There’s an earthy quality; dry minerals, wet red clay, brine, celery / parsnips & white pepper with some trailing alcohol vapors. It’s sweet agave and vegetal goodness. - The sweetness from the cooked agave hits first but quickly followed by the mix of the brine and citrus zest with and earthy / vegetal base. The white pepper and alcohol hit and then carries into the finish which has a hint of anise. The pepper pleasantly lingers. - This is a quality still strength blanco that’s delicious and unique. It deserves a spot on your bar cart. - NOM 1616

Gorgeous nose of cooked agave and gravel and lemongrass. Very traditional. Can taste the high proof at first as it packs a bit of a punch. But then mellows quickly to agave, black pepper, lemon lime. A tiny bit of acetate that blows off pretty quickly after pouring. A delicious, slightly aggressive HP blanco. Solid! Is this the best “celebrity” blanco ever made?

Vegetal aroma. Very smooth with a sort of funky taste. Weak finish.

The aroma reminds me of an unripe banana that has been peppered. There is a bit of agave in there, but it is faint. I also get a bit of licorice and green veggies. Taste has more of the pepper and licorice, along with a nice salty agave note. I like this as a sipper, or perhaps for a mixed drink that calls for a stronger spirit taste. Finish is a touch bitter and salty

A little one note for me. A little citrus, a little jalapeño. Nice and crisp, just not my jam.

Not that I’ve tried all the good tequilas out there by any stretch of the imagination, but this one is a classic for me. Huge agave flavor and it just tastes and feels so robust. A delicious tequila to sip or in a Tommy’s.

This was very surprising. I typically don’t do it still strength on the rocks unless I mix it in a cocktail. usually has too much of an acidic hit, but this profile was incredibly smooth, balanced just very well crafted. I’ve enjoyed it over a slow melt ice cube a few times. It’s just very aromatic and full of flavor. The whiskey of tequilas!

Blind taste tested Aroma- very earthy and lactic, a bit of anise, better the longer you take it in, kind of like you are smelling a planted agave Flavor- lovely mouth feel, sweet gentle herbalness Finish- It was all good until the finish. It’s a bit like you put an herbal bouquet in your mouth. Very dry and a bit unpleasant. Normally I’m a big código fan, but this one went weird in the finish for me.

finally coming around to liking this. i can see why others would like this more than me. but i can’t say anything wrong bout this except that i think it’s not complex. it’s got big agave, and the flavor which i think is too minty is probably the anise coming through really hard. it’s good quality. someone is gonna love this stuff.
