Definitely a fan if this brand. However, I am only familiar with the blancos. This is my first aged expression from Amatiteña. The nose is tobacco, agave, smoke, bubble gum. On the palate, sweet and smoky. Caramel and light barrel spices. Great finish with sweetness permeating the mouth. This is what I would imagine from an XA from this brand. An absolute buy for me.
Had at a tasting event Quick notes : I started as a Scotch drinker and this is reminiscent of barrel notes I would get in some Speyside highland scotches. Agave, vanilla, bell pepper, oak. Not overly complex but nostalgic. Buttery mouthfeel that extends to a salted honey-butter finish. Really digging this, would like to revisit and give it a bit of time to open.

Love this one, my favorite of the lineup! It’s still got a touch of smoke from the direct flame roasting and does approach more like a mezcal than a tequila, so be prepared. But it’s not too smoky or funky, it’s a fruity earthy high proof that sips more like a 45-48% than the 55% abv it is. Really unique and delicious.
