“Just one day after meeting Guillermo Sauza at the Los Abuelos / Fortaleza distillery in Tequila MX, I found myself in an amazing bar in Tlaquepaque staring down a bottle of Amor y Perros, the most sought after tequila at this moment on planet earth. My pride refused the $45 USD per shot, and I considered breaking in to the cabinet to steal the almost full bottle while no one was looking, but a thought of a Guadalajara jail cell stopped my plan dead in it’s tracks. As the hour went on, several other patrons and I struck up a conversation about tequila and our Mexico trip. One gentleman, who hailed originally from England, demanded to buy me a pour after I described the tequila as the closest thing to heaven on Earth. I tried to refuse, but he insisted. And I’m glad I did. This tequila was amazing. Butter and agave and oak and sheer joy with every sip. I knew I should’ve flown into Guadalajara just to buy a few bottles when they were released. If you find this tequila during your travels, do yourself a favor, and indulge. You won’t regret it! ”

Number Juan Blanco

“Agave and ethanol on the nose. Cooked agave and cinnamon along with pepper notes on the palate. I also get some minerality, which some may describe as “brine” or “salty”, so I’ll let you be the judge. This is a surprisingly good celebrity (Comedians Ron White & Alex Reymundo) tequila, and while not on the TMM additive free list, I have zero indication of anything stupid being added to this blanco (the website advertises this as additive free and no use of diffusers at the distillery). Probably the most enjoyable celebrity tequila I’ve ever had! ”

“On the nose is a smoky sweet agave concoction. The smoke settles on the palate and sweet cooked agave comes through. A real alcohol punch, but completely what you’d expect and want from this amazing hand crafted artisanal tequila! It’s even better after having toured the Cascahuin distillery earlier this year and seen the pit and distillery equipment along with the people who make it all possible. I found 2 bottles at $150 a piece. In my opinion, worth every penny. Life’s short. Drink good tequila!”

“Maybe I’m a little biased since I own a little chunk of this amazing tequila, but I only invested in it because of how amazing I think it is. Yeyo is light and citrusy with a nice agave flavor. Mineral and pepper spice also comes through both on the nose and palate. And the alcohol hit is light and reasonable, which means you can sip or mix this one! And for under $40 a bottle, I think it’s an amazing deal for the artisanal additive free stuff coming out of NOM 1414! Don’t hesitate to add this one to the collection or gift to a friend!”

Arette Artesenal Reposado Suave

“Super interesting reposado from Arette. Definitely not a cheaper additive free tequila, but I like it. I get cooked agave on the nose and a real butterscotch on the palate. Also hints of leather and pepper. The finish is a bit of alcohol, but nothing overwhelming. This tequila should be a part of any respectable collection. Cheers & enjoy!”

“On the nose I get a floral mineral aroma. Also a strong punch of alcohol, but upon tasting, lots of agave and oak. Finish is peppery and slightly smoky and then vanilla! Very good tequila and extremely easy to sip. Please don’t waste this as a mixer. ”

“One of the best additive free tequila’s on the market, IMO. I get oak and agave on the nose and that amazing alcohol punch on the mouth with vanilla and spice. For around $32, this has been my go to sipper lately (usually Siete Leguas @ $60 a bottle). You just can’t go wrong with any of the Cimarron tequilas. Cheers!”
