As opposed to the high proof repo, La Pulga’s anejo offering has notably more character on the nose. Additionally, the oak component(I still suspect virgin american oak) is more well integrated than the high proof reposado. On the nose I get almost a bourbon-esque profile. Cherry, barrel spice, vanilla, honey, cocoa, and clove. The palate is very similar to the nose, fruity with some subtle spice. I do get citrus notes, and light agave tones but all in all this is a very oak driven profile. The finish does drop off, as opposed to the high proof reposado, but I prefer the palate on the anejo overall. A curious anejo, one that feels targeted toward an American whiskey market.
La Pulga Anejo Sample from Mark Czerwonka I saved the best for last tonight. Enjoying this expression. Nicely balanced between barrel notes, cherry, sweetness, oak and the agave is still there
Nice Anejo, sweet, light spice, light agave notes with added barrel flavors
Vessel: CT Jarrito Nose: Cherry, Honey, Floral, Oak, Chocolate, Anise Body: light- medium Palate: Citrus, Jalapeño, Honey, Chamomile Finish: Agave, Vanilla, Honey, Caramel, Oak This is a complex Añejo.Honey and cherry are dominant at first but aromas of chocolate, cherry, and anise come in to play after it opens up a bit. Lots of citrus, Chamomile, and Jalapeño with a little bit of a kick to it on the palate. But don't worry, this spirit doesn't let you go to bed angry. The finish is pure sweetness with a hint of some barrel notes. La Pulga Anejo is probably my favorite expression in the La Pulga series to date!
I like the nose a little better than the repo. I get a little agave but sweet notes of cherry and chocolate. Nice palate with sweet agave, barrel spices and a bit of alcohol.
Aroma: black cherry, chocolate, cigar box Taste: dusty and scotch like, with a nice residual sweetness. A bit smoky overall Finish: medium length with a few twists and turns. Worth contemplating next to a fireplace.
LOTE EA05750?, tasted on 7-11-25. Color: dark yellow to light brown. Aroma: hint of cooked agave, light vanilla, light caramel, light acidity, hint of black fermented tea, wood note that becomes more intense as time goes by, hint of citrus. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, wood note is more intense on the palate, sweet and dry. Finish is medium to medium long, hint of cooked agave, hint of caramel vanilla with dominating wood note persists.
Very smooth but lite flavor. Almost nonexistent finish. Great sipper.
This is a very rich flavored tequila. Many layers and depth from aging. Dried fruits but agave mellowness and spice. Super long and warm finish. Tons of character from barrel, but not over run by the wood.
Can find the cooked agave on the nose but it gets a little lost on the palate. Oak, caramel, chocolate, honey, spices. Good value!
Again balanced oak and unsweetened vanilla perception.
Very good tequila
In my glass: La Pulga Tequila Añejo color: light yellow gold. nose: honey predominant at first opening. but after it opens up I get citrus with some floral characteristics. palate: very mellow and soft. first sip mostly honey with a little clove. After a few minutes some of the slight smokiness starts to come through. This is a nice tequila that takes its time and doesn’t rush. Like a good conversation the nuances come through over time and subtle flavors emerge.
Found this at a local military class 6. Color: Amber Nose: Floral and clean (Reminiscent of crisp clean sheets) Palate: Wonderfully mild with heavy barrel influence that imparts some delicious maple flavor and delicate floral notes as well. There is zero acidic aftertaste or rye-like “bite” at the end. Dangerously mellow. Finish: Light finish but coats the mouth/tongue with a very nice syrupy finish. Zero Harshness with a nice little warmth at the backend.
Heavy barrel influence. Cooked agave is there, but not what we are looking for traditionally. A lot of oak and cherry. Caramel and vanilla too.
Aroma: good citrus notes with smoked agave, whiskey really comes through as well. Just like the other renditions of la Pulga, honey really comes through. Lots of minerality as well. Hints of cherry/fruits Taste: lots of smokiness from the barrels. Caramel and honey. Moderate alcohol/ heat. Finish: caramel and slight honey lingers. Smokiness really comes through as well.
This is a beautiful añejo at an excellent price that tequila lovers and whiskey drinkers will both appreciate. The añejo honors the agave (and la pulga has a distinctive earthy, funky flavor note in their tequilas) but brings nice caramel and cinnamon barrel character that rounds out the edges. 10/10 on value, this is a go-to aged product for less than $75 in my market. Will edit with more tasting notes.

La Pulga Añejo delivers a warm, bourbon-leaning profile while still holding onto its agave roots. The nose opens with cherry, honey, oak, and soft chocolate, creating an inviting sweetness that feels richer than the reposado. The palate brings sweet agave, vanilla, caramel, citrus, and a touch of jalapeño heat, balanced by gentle barrel spice and chamomile. It’s approachable yet layered, with a medium finish that leaves hints of honey, oak, and light agave sweetness. Overall, this is the most complete expression in the La Pulga lineup—easy to sip, subtly complex, and crafted for whiskey and agave fans alike
