cooked agave is front and center with vanilla cinnamon butterscotch notes rounding out the sweetness on the nose and a tropical fruit and black pepper presence rounds out the aromas. The taste is similar with Black pepper adding a nice warmth to this high proof repo.
This is a spectacular tequila. Great nose of butterscotch, caramel, black pepper likely from the high proof with classic cooked agave sweetness. The palate has much of the same notes with a nice citrus bite and an almost Mezcal/Raicilla hint to it which I love. A really pleasant finish with some nice heat from the high proof. This stands up with anything coming out of El Pandillo in my opinion. Congrats, Don Vicente & Co.!
Excellent high proof repo! Nose is agave, vanilla and alcohol. Agave, cinnamon, vanilla and some orange on the taste. Nice pepper finish alongside some honey and fruit. Very well done!
So good. Incredible repo for under $55!
The most reliable agave awards, with blind judging, praised these tequilas.
Aroma: 22/25 A medium density nose that opens on peanut butter, rich and unmistakably nutty. Barrel char and black pepper follow just behind, sitting over a sweet, vegetal agave base. Palate: 27/30 Slightly cooling at the start. Sweet pepper up front that builds into genuine spice through the mid, maybe jalapeño. Finish: 21/25 Warming on the finish, gentle and easy rather than aggressive. Value: 7/10 $65 a bottle. Good and sweet, though not especially complex. I like it regardless, and I’m a big fan of 1579 in general. This is their sweet and approachable expression, a great pour that doesn’t demand your attention.
