Wow, I’m blown away by this one! Just had a sample at Sabor y Cultura Chicago. Sneaky high proof that went down easier. Really unique use of quiote. Easily my favorite Xolo so far. I’ll be hunting down a bottle of this.
Nose- earthy, vegetal, cooked agave, mint, sweet with long mineral notes. Palate- the high proof heat is front and center followed amazing sweet cooked agave. Brine hits next with a beautiful lingering finish. The first sip from the neck of the bottle was intense. Followed up a few days later before rating. This has mellowed a bit, quite a nice sipper.
Of the two barrel offerings , the American barrel vs the French barrel release, I preferred the French. The American barrel had a lot of barrel notes that muted the agave. This was Sweet, and a little astringent for me. Salud
This is one of those beautiful bottles that has some amazing delicious aged tequila. The French barrel notes of cherry and spice, but the agave is the star here. Prefer the French barrel xolo dog bottle over the American barrel bottle
