This is a blanco from 2000-2001. On the nose and taste is very strong vegetal with a a bit of sweetness from the agave. The vegetal overpowers the agave imo and didn't enjoy this one compared to other El Viejito bottles.
This El Viejito is more intense than others I've tried from this brand. The aromas come out more, you get a good amount of agave with some floral and little bit of vegetal funk on the nose. The taste is what stands out, at 1st it's bit hot but opens up and you get an agave punch with some pepper and cement/buttery taste. The finish is mid to a bit long, has a nice lingering in the mouth. This has been a favorite from this brand.
Very similar to the 42%, but with more intensity on the aromas and flavors. Not hot for 50%. I let this one open up before tasting.
The 42% is a nice sipper! Cooked agave and pepper with some minerals.
Cooked agave is there, but at 35.5% ABV it’s too soft for me. I’m sure the smoothness is exactly what some may prefer.
High-proof tequilas, once only for hardcore drinkers, are now being released at a steady pace. Why?
