Tequila G4 Reposado
“This bottle is for agave lovers. Caramelized cooked agave and floral notes strike on the nose, and cooked agave predominates on tasting. Unlike it's younger blanco brother, the black pepper kick is mellowed out with age, the barrel balancing the flavor. Tannic notes on the finish, which is short to medium. Very tasty. ”

Cimarron Blanco
“$30 for 1L? Great. Nose is full of cooked agave and caramel. On the palate it's a straightforward agave bomb, followed by some earth and alcohol. Finish is short and slightly tannic. This is a great blanco especially for the price and mixes beautifully as well”

Tequila G4 Blanco
“Nose is sweet, cooked agave and florality dominate with a slight earthy character. Minerality, black pepper and earth dominate the palate on tasting. This tequila is dry and assertive. The floral and agave notes I smelled are not as present on the tongue. This tannic black pepper character lingers for quite a while on the finish. After this fades the floral note finally has a chance to emerge. I luckily found this for 35, which I think is a good deal, but I'd be reluctant to recommend it at typical midwestern prices. Seems like the bottle is quite an old vintage, bottled 2013. I wonder if it's changed much since.”

Arette Artesenal Añejo Suave
“Immediately after pouring, strong cooked agave and slight acetone smell. After resting in the glass for a bit, acetone dissapates to a sweet vanilla and oak with agave and fruit taking a back seat. Initial taste is tannic with a black pepper bite. Some reviewers note cherry which I can understand if I keep it in mind. Oaked vanilla characteristics form a strong background while cooked agave dominates. Finish is tannic and fades quickly to a pleasant level. ”

“Lot 106. A beautiful punch of vanilla, cooked agave, citrus and flowers on the nose. The taste is similarly striking, immediately opening with cooked agave and black pepper. Baking spices and vanilla play supporting roles on the tongue, balanced with salinity. Finish leans towards dried dark fruit and tannic notes. A beautiful exercise of balance despite the strength of flavor. Going forward, this will be my benchmark for what good tequila tastes like.”

Siete Leguas Añejo
“Cooked agave balanced with oaky and caramel notes Flavor is rich and dry, with black pepper reminiscent of their blanco offering augmented by a woody barreled note. Finish is pleasantly bitter, slightly tannic and fades slowly. This is a great value statement that serves as a "standard" benchmark for good añejo. ”

Tequila Confianza Blanco
“Aroma of dried cranberries and flowers initially in the glass that developed notes of balsamic vinegar as it sat. This has a "aged" character to me that is a departure from the standard blanco profile. The taste is similarly unique, with an inexplicably balsamic background behind a core of cooked agave and orange peel flavor. Like other reviewers, I think this vinegar note actually works quite well and augments the classic agave flavors in a thought provoking way. Lingering and pleasant peppery bitterness on the finish. NOM 1414 again producing quite a unique-tasting tequila. I've tried their ArteNOM reposado expression and was similarly impressed by the atypical flavors they have coaxed out of agave. While it's flavors are probably not in the comfort zone for most tequila drinkers, this bottle goes to show how different even a blanco can taste. Highly reccomended for anyone looking to taste a unique tequila. ”

“Butterscotch, wild honey and tropical flowers on the nose. Smooth, soft, and floral initially on the tongue with basil and other herbs emerging afterwards. Finish is light and mineral, receding quietly which compliments the unique floral notes well. ”

El Tequileño Reposado Gran Reserva
“Toasted oak and caramel dominate on the nose, concentrating and sweetening as this sits in the glass. Flavor starts more subtle than expected with vanilla and black pepper that lingers as the barreled notes come out. Finish is lightly smoky and spicy and fades into minerality. El Tequileño used to be the king of bang for buck but they have increased prices (as they should to better reflect the quality of their product). ”

“Very complex on the nose - caramelized agave, dried fruit, flowers, and a pleasant medicinal aroma. The taste leans green and vegetal with a warm cooked agave and raisin backbone. Pepper and baking spices linger in the finish.”

Ocho Tequila Plata
“2022 La Canada - Huge aroma of cooked sweet agave, buttery caramel and floral notes. Less floral on the palate with black pepper, toffee and citrus peel. Pleasant bitterness lingering on the finish into warm earthiness as it fades to nothing. Excellent in cocktails as well. ”

“Note the bottle looks different now (better I might add). Nose is primarily sweet and caramel, with a slight acrid acetone note as well. Luckily acetone does not appear as much in the taste but aside from a minerality that fades quickly it is short lasting and uneventful. Similarly, the finish is nothing to write home about, with acetone emerging subtlely again here. The key advantage this tequila holds is price, with an absurd value of 20 dollars for 1.75 liters. I don't know what happened in the distillery to get to this price point, but the bottom line is that this tequila will work well as a mixer for your next summer bash. Obviously, it's not a sipping tequila, but the unsavory notes are subtle enough to go unnoticed in something like a margarita.”

Pasote Añejo
“Sweet and floral on the nose, with much of the sweet aroma being of cooked agave and caramel. While this sweetness initially emerges on tasting, black pepper, salinity and peat quickly follow to balance. The flavor cleanly subsides on the finish, with a subtle minerality emerging. Overall, an exercise of balance and subtlety, and aroma is the standout quality of this tequila. ”

El Tesoro Reposado Single Barrel
“(B098-L277) Richly herbaceous and smoky on the nose while retaining an underlying minerality. Tasting notes of immediate smoke and black pepper that evolves into light sweetness and an oaked character. Minerality and vegetal notes are noticeable in the finish, which lingers but fades pleasantly. The smoke note and minerality on the finish stand out to me.”
