Not bad, the reposado is better

Jake Lustig brought this out while we were relaxing at a little social gathering amongst friends new and old. What I remember is it being sweeter on the nose and palate more than I expected it to be but not in an offensive way. It tasted of warm vanilla, dried fruit/fig/dates and caramel with no ethyl sting in the nose or on the palate. It had a creaminess to it that made the mouth water and truly stood out as an indefinite after dinner, dessert specifically drink. The barrel influence made this an easy sipper. It was hard not to finish the bottle but so easily to do so.

Nose: dried fruit, clove, oak, agave, vanilla, and earth. Flavor: whiskey notes, allspice, wood, very light mouth feel. Finish: short with lots of pepper

Amber in color. Sweet cooked agave, allspice, whiskey, cinnamon, vanilla and caramel on the aroma. Buttery mouthfeel. Dried stone fruit, caramelized agave, allspice, oak, whiskey barrel. Medium finish with sufficient heat. A tequila from the great NOM 1146 that isn't often talked about. A bit whiskey forward, but enjoyable. Would be rated higher by those that prefer whiskey forward anejos. A very reasonably priced anejo

Aromas: Big bold spicy nose. Dried fruit, vanilla, whisky oak, cedar, lactic and floral add multiple dimensions. Flavors: Cloves, cinnamon, allspice, caramel, vanilla and agave. Nice pepperiness.

Overall solid tequila. Has lots of character and smells and tastes like a natural product.

This brand had been around for some years and initially consisted of just an añejo. Some years later and there is a full line of b, r, a. Wood and whiskey notes on the nose along with some alcohol. Well balanced in the mouth with roast agave sweetness, some nice oak and caramel finish. Reminds me of the 2 year Purasangre Añejo from 1146.

Classic barrel aromas of caramel, vanilla and almond. The flavor begins with a nice caramel sweetness which carries through to the finish but soon after the sweet start a mild heat begins and blends with the sweet opening. The finish is relatively short. 7/25/2014

Lapiz - a blast from the past. Use to drink this in the late ‘90’s. Bought back then for $20+/bottle. Recently found a bottle to evaluate. Much more expensive these days. Easy after dinner sipper. Sweet but not overly or artificial. Well balanced. A solid anejo.

Clean profile, great sweet smell. Delicious tequila. Nothing much to add, everything been said below!

The flavor on the nose is slightly sweet with a spicy mid palette and a smooth overall finish. Best at room temp on its own

what is my first better quality tequila but Still a favorite even though it doesn't meet the extra Anejo qualities

Good flavor and great finish. Can only find in Mexico right now.

Still a favorite from my early tequila exploration. Lots of sweetness on the nose and light bodied.

Butterscotch nose with a full earthy caramel taste and a spicy finish. You can taste charred barrel at the end. Very enjoyable.

A great classic añejo tequila that was readily available in Mexico 5 -8 years ago. Now coming back to New york , possibly other markets.It will be interesting to see if it has changed at all.
