Second night: Dangerously easy to drink. Airy and silky. While it has an initial ethyl flick on the palate, the drinking experience is best described as ethereal. Discernable yet light and fleeting. The aroma is rich with petrichor, while a noticeable ethyl bite cuts through. Cooked agave brings its sweet-potato depth, accented by a lively thread of pepperiness. On the palate, cooked agave leads with confidence, supported by a dense, grounding layer of earthiness and petrichor. Lemon citrus adds a bright contrast, while grassiness, spicy pepperiness, and an enduring salinity give the sips energy.

Nice tequila with great aromas of cooked ripped blue agave, green banana, orange peel, herbal tea, minerals, lemon grass, and peach. Palate full of peppermint, chamonte, jasmine flowers, raspberry, avocado cream, hazelnut, rosemary, olives and ripped agave. Finish is sweet, silky but not oily, with peppermint, peach and cream with little white pepper.
Great aroma of sweet overripe cooked blue agave. Palate: light white pepper, intense and lively tropical fruits, mineral, mint, and rain water. Finish: medium and sweet at the same time.
2024 Las Raices Barrel Proof Nose: The agave leads with a clean, steady presence, and from there the warmer notes slip in - cinnamon and black pepper giving it some lift, while the chocolate nibs add a dry, earthy depth. A flash of orange zest brightens the edges without pulling it off balance. Palate & Mouthfeel: It lands medium thin and a little watery, but it carries its flavors clearly. Agave shows first, joined by a gentle vanilla that softens the spice. Cinnamon and black pepper return with a familiar snap, and the orange note pushes through again before the oak settles in underneath. Finish: Oak and cinnamon linger, but the finish stays light, easing off without much grip. It’s quick, but not abrupt. Final Thoughts: For a barrel proof expression, it sits lighter than expected - and that actually works in its favor. It’s not chasing complexity; instead, it feels intentionally pared back, and that restraint shows a sure hand. Simple in a good way, and genuinely enjoyable.

In a 2018 audio interview, the famed Tequila Ambassador reflects on his life.
The first night’s pour opened with an unexpected blast of butterscotch that was uber gourmand. I hoped each return to the glass would offer the same indulgence, but with aeration and by the third evening, that dominance softened. Vanilla moved to the forefront, rounding the profile with a gentler sweetness. Supporting notes of petrichor, oak, and a subtle pear fruitiness weave through the background. On the palate, petrichor arrives first, followed by a prominent spike of oak that quickly settles. Pear and peach tones lend a ripe, mellow fruitiness alongside vanilla and a bright tang. A faint salinity threads seamlessly into the petrichor, adding lift. Barrel spice, a mix of orange and lime citrus, steady pepperiness, light anise that never oversteps, and a warm nuttiness concludes the arc. The finish lingers with that signature petrichor, joined by a bourbon-like butteriness and a refined, persistent pepperiness that stays calm and carries on.
