Tierras Negras 2024 This Reposado is clear and light yellow in the glass, with a nice viscosity. On the nose, it’s primarily agave, with citrus undertones. The taste is smooth and sweet, with agave, citrus, and peppery flavors. The finish is short-ish, with the alcohol hitting up front, then tapering off to taste the agave, and finally a sweet lemon-flavored hard candy aftertaste. Very nice as a sipper, but would also make an elegant cocktail.

With a good sniff or two cooked agave immediately stands out, accompanied by petrichor, light lime citrus, noticeable ethyl pepperiness, and a soft touch of salinity. On the palate, the sweet cooked agave remains the dominant note. Soft pepperiness is joined by light honey, mint, and a subtle wintergreen character, and salinity. The ethyl is more pronounced here, giving the palate a noticeable bite. As it fades, the finish is clinging and earthy, with petrichor and cooked agave lingering alongside soft salinity.
