ArteNOM Seleccion de 1146 Añejo
“Very hot peppery spice, tastes a lot like tapatio excellencia without as much refinement/not quite as smooth. Not a bad thing at all given the price comparison. Will definitely buy again. Quick note, needed time to breathe before it was enjoyable, straight after opening it was harsh. ”

Avion Reserva 44
“Presentation is great, looks very premium especially for the sun £100 I paid for it. However it smells and tastes like a run of the mill reposado. Honestly I don’t know if what I have is different from what others have but this lacks colour, flavour or any of the premium taste that you would expect from a decent extra anejo. The plus sides are the mouthfeel and I sometimes enjoy the burn. We will call it peppery to be nice to it but I think it’s probably just that way as it’s a poor tequila which has a little too much burn for the buck. ”

Casa Noble Añejo
“Poor, chemical flavour with far too much vanilla in it. Tastes like casamigos. I put off buying this for a long time given Amazon always had it featured. It would never sell if not for advertising. Nothing good to really say about it. ”

Ocho Tequila Añejo
“2020 cerro grande. Bang for your buck best tequila I have bought in a long time. There are possibly better tequilas out there and definitely anejos with more barrel influence if that’s what you want, but my god this is good for the money. Smooth oily mouthfeel, perfect amount of burn and relies heavily on the agave which produces something quite special. It’s between this and Fortaleza for my favorite anejo but I can guarantee I will always have a bottle of this in the cupboard at this price point (£49). ”

Tapatio Excelencia Extra Añejo
“This has more fire to it than similarly priced XA tequilas that I have tried, but it’s not a bad thing. The nose is amazing and you get a lot of agave given it’s age. I have found that given time in the air the taste greatly improved and mellowed making this one of the best out there. It lost a few points because of the price, however it’s still one I will have on my shelf whenever I can pick it up at slightly less than the normal £190. ”

Rey Sol Extra Añejo
“Aroma of spiced apple, raisins and caramel with a hint of wood. Flavour of liquorice and raisins and cinnamon alongside baked apple and a hint of agave. This is one of the smoothest tequilas I have tried, the taste is not quite as strong expected when you first smell this tequila, however the taste does linger and the mouthfeel is superb. It isn’t my favorite tequila, however it is up there. I purchased this around the £120 mark which makes it well worth it, I have another bottle on the way. ”

Maestro Dobel Diamonte
“Simply awful stuff. I honestly don’t know where the good reviews come from. The burn is way too much, it tastes like someone has mixed cheap vodka and cheap tequila together to create some sort of monstrosity. I expected more and I can honestly say this is one of the worst I have had in a while. The agave is there if you search for it but it’s hidden under a layer of ethanol. This is not something I would ever recommend. Bottled in 2017. Even ice doesn’t take away the overpowering taste of alcohol. ”

Teremana Tequila Reposado
“This was harsher on the nose than expected, however Having read reviews I was surprised at how much agave I got, real earthy flavours coming through with a touch of mint and citrus. Yes it’s sweet but aren’t a lot of reposados? I just feel this gets hated on because of the celebrity connection. It’s not the best out there but it’s also no where near the worst. I would drink it again. ”

Sampled alongside Patron Piedra and this didn’t stand up well against that. It could easily have been a brandy rather than a tequila that I was drinking. All of the above is true, however coming back a few weeks later, the bottle seems to have mellowed somewhat and is far more enjoyable. Maybe there is something to letting it breathe or maybe I was in a different mood. Either way I am more excited to come back again next time to finish this off. ”

Codigo 1530 Reposado
“I don’t get this at all. The alcohol taste is strong and it tasted like I was licking the inside of a charred barrel. Not enjoyable and I won’t be buying again. ”
