NOM 1480 | AMM Blind: NOM 1480. Super sweet on the nose, flowers and chocolate. I keep going back to it, thinking the chocolate was an anomaly, but it remains consistent. The sweetness persists on the palate. Finish doesn’t linger too long.

AMM Blind Tasting: Aroma: seems like the sweetest smelling of the bunch Cooked agave butter, lemon, vanilla notes. Palate: decent body, vegetal, pepper, citrus with some asparagus hints. Finish: not my favorite finish

Very vegetal, vanilla pepper cinnamon. Your opinion on this will probably vary based on what notes you prefer. For me the flavor profile seems off.

Nom 1457. Nose very light and hard to pick up much (just opened, will update in a few days if that changes). Can pick up light agave, coconut, vanilla and some grassiness. Flavor is the payoff. Great agave, pepper, mint with a really good, well lasting finish. Not sure how the newer Nom is but this is very nice.

NOM 1457 | Mexican 38% abv. version, no lot code nor marbete, silver color plastic twist cap with fun stopper, transparent glass bottle, looks like a 2000’s bottling, tasted on 10-4-24. Aroma: hint of cooked agave, light green vegetal notes, light earthiness, whiff of soapy aroma, light acidity, light sourness, after 20 minutes in the glass the cooked agave note becomes sweeter. Hint of chili spiciness, hint of resinous sweetness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, aromas and flavors are subtle in general. Finish is short to almost medium, hint of cooked agave with light green vegetal notes, good sweet & sour balance with a hint of soapy aroma persists but not too long.

NOM 1480 | You have to like an agave and pepper flavor/finish profile. The aroma is weak with some vegetable/earthiness combined with light agave. The agave/pepper really presents itself through the flavor and finish. Some oily mouthfeel which lengthens the finish and causes some odd funkiness that didn’t need to be there. A shorter finish would have raised the score. This falls into that “no man’s land “ area. Good but not great. If it is your flavor profile, then that is great. No shame with this area of tequila.

A nice cooked agave and butter aroma. Quite mellow on the pallet. Its a solid blanco.

NOM 1480 | Nose is agave and fruity, with some peach and coconut, but a bit weak to me. Palate is better: agave and light mint. A little bit of oily mouth feel comes in which helps. Finish is a bit weak however. I’d like to experience a still-strength version of this...seems a little watered down and boring. It isn’t bad though, not at all, just not a “wow”. Extra credit given for the organic aspect.

Tasty & balanced. Fresh agave, minerals and dried fruit in the aroma. Cooked agave, butter, vegetal, cherries in the taste. A finish with lemongrass, earth and cream soda in the finish.

NOM 1480 | NOM 1480: Nose is agave, fruit, and a little earth. Taste is agave, toasted marshmallow, and tropical fruit. Has a nice viscous mouthfeel. Touch of vegetal and pepper. Smooth warming finish that sticks. Will definitely buy this again.

Review #138 - 4 Copas Tequila Blanco

I appreciate a good blanco for what it is, even if it's not my favorite age for tequilas and try to give it a fair review.
