Aroma: 23/25 ROUND, BALANCED, lemon, agave, white wine. Fantastic nose. Would have enjoyed more agave. Palate: 28/30 White grape most likely from the wine barrels. Lighter agave. Orange peel. Banana bread. Not drying which I appreciate. Very nice use of aging without hiding the agave. Finish: 23/25 Very light mouth numbing. Value: 8/10 $70 in San Francisco. Very few repos 50%+, only being $10 more than the 50%+ blanco is great. If high proof repos become more common later on, I may adjust Legs for days. Strong drinkability like the other Manuscrito I have tried.

Your opinion on this one may depend on what you like. Alot of caramel, butter, cinnamon and pepper with a long finish. Also good okay notes. Solid repo.

Nose: Strong cinnamon and cooked agave blend, white pepper, butterscotch, honey Pallet: Cinnamon & heat from the abv ride the front, it softens with butter, caramel, honey, pepper, and some minerality Another great launch from Manuscrito! Very similar to the chapter 3 but the abv bumps the cinnamon up above the agave and has that extra spice. Close behind chapter 3 for me but both are phenomenal!

Chapter 4 is an upgrade to #3, the higher proof kicks up the cooked agave flavors, you still get the cinnamon, honey and spices with some barrel bit at a nice balance that it doesn't overproof the agave. The 55.55 abv higher proof pushes this ahead.

I really like this tequila. The nose is amazing but the taste and finish it so good!

Manuscrito Chapter 4 Sample from Jose Martin Agave Swappers Nose: at first some funk/yeast, then cinnamon pepper citrus, some mild barrel spice, mild alcohol and caramel Palate: sweet agave pepper minerality Finish: sweet agave pepper, nice warmth that lingers Let this one open. It gets better and better Notes: 1. This is easy to sip. Unbelievable that its 51abv! 2. I'm guessing this was aged in very exhausted barrels or only aged for a short time because i'm not getting a lot of barrel spice, and I like what i'm getting

Nose is barrel forward with oak and baking spices followed by subtle notes of honey, caramel vanilla, flowers and agave Taste leads with an equal balance of oak, agave and baking spices. Followed by pepper, minerals, vanilla, honey and a very subtle herbalness. I have revisited this bottle multiple times and it has gotten better as it has had time to open up but the balance seems to be a little off. The pepper, alcohol and agave just don't mesh as well as I had hoped. This is still a good high proof Reposado but balance is off for me.

Loads of agave and cinnamon on the nose. Flavors of agave, red hots, jalapenos, minerals, and a hidden layer of vanilla sweetness. This 103 proof mellows as it opens. Nice creamy mouth and long finish. Excellent value (grabbed mine for $60). Loving what they are doing at Manuscrito.

Agave is very strong on the nose which is fantastic. Lot of sweetness. On the palate is agave and fruit like ponche con tequila as my wife describes it. Very tasty and pleasing. Excited for Chapter 5!

Beautiful sweet aged nose. Agave comes through along with nice barrel notes. Sweetness up front on the palate with a creamy mid palate, followed by a nice long pepper finish that lingers. This is real nice

Man this is fantastic. Great flavor that compliments the proof. Perfect balance that brings a rare combination. $64 in Evansville. Good in value. This competes with any of the “big boys” you could ever imagine. A favorite.

Received as a sample from Agave Swappers so I am setting value at 5/10.

of the 2 repos I like chapter 3 by a hair. palate gets smacked with caramel and pepper on this one. flavor profile is sweet and hot but not quite as much depth as the other expressions. also lacks balance by comparison. still quite good.

Oak forward, agave and spice. Touch of minerals on the dry med/long finish.

Omg I like this one better than chapter 3, agave, pimienta, canela, madera y el high proof no se siente para nada

Mild aroma. Smooth with lots of spice and a hint of smoke. Hot but smooth finish. Lots of spice.

There’s something about this that’s not quite hitting for me. It’s a little sweeter than I expected and on the positive side can’t believe this is a high proof. Definitely drinks like 40%

At first intital neck pour this was very good then I came back to it a week later and at first the proof overwhelmed me. I set it aside for a few weeks after it opened up the caramel, Vanilla and walnuts or some kind of nuttiness is front and center yet still leaves room for cooked agave sweetness. The longer you let this open up the more you will enjoy.

Did a side by side with Chapter III and preferred this one ever so slightly more. My newer to tequila friend was the opposite

Strong aromas of cooked agave bolstered by warming notes of honey, cinnamon, apple cider, light tropical fruit, baking spices, oak, blanched almond with a lingering/thick viscosity. Not your typical reposado but such a strong agave backbone shines bright with this expression.

Less creamy and buttery than the chapter 3. Oak, Vanilla, cinnamon reminds me of cinnamon hot candy’s, light anice and licorice. A bit more dryer than chapter 3. Cocoa, walnut, banana bread. Overall a bit more tamed than chapter 2. Good price
