“El Gran Jurado Blanco 375ml is the “free” bottle of tequila in every room at Le Blanc in Los Cabos, MX. It is brutishly rough without the charm of a blanco. There is agave present, but also astringent and wet concrete. No balance. Watery mouth feel. It’s even harsh chilled and taken as a shooter. This tequila finishes like isopropyl alcohol and I’m saving this bottle for the next time I’m injured. ”

“El Olor: Cooked Agave and Water. Almost well water. Kind of minerally. El Sabor: Not a bad mixer but barely a sipping Teq. Cooked agave and bright pepper. But also flat and watery. This tequila needs a food substance to pair with it that either punches it up a notch or masks it. El Fin: It’s here and gone. Not a lingering tequila and given the flavor that might be a good thing. In summary this is yet another “Celebrity Tequila” that misses the mark. I’m not sure why celebs feel compelled to play in the Tequila game but (this one is Dwane “The Rock” Johnson) they usually end poorly. There are MUCH better and more authentic Tequilas in the $30 to $40 range. ”

“NOM 1580 Lote 001 El Olor: Vegitial and cooked agave. Typical “cheap tequila” pungency. Not a lot of depth. El Sabor: Starts creamy and buttery but finds a bit of pepper near the end. Strong alcohol bite accompanying the trailing end. El Final: Nice lingering burn. Warm. Nutty after taste. Possibly the best part of this Tequila. ”

“El Olor: Pungent and strong. Heavy fragrance but missing floral fruit. It’s stout with herbal and oak maybe a little leather. El Sabor: Complex and deep but very young and tight. This tequila needs to breathe. A little water (tiny pipette or over ice) helps the richness of the complexity come out. A little decanting or water helps move the butter, butterscotch, caramel, toffee and all spice / nutmeg flavors out of the background and balances out the peppery oak. El Final: Decanting or adding water does come at a cost. Before the finish was brute and long. It lingered for days. But after that finish shortens up. Thankfully it has a lot to offer in that finish and the decanted finish is more pleasant even if it is a little shorter. If you are considering testing decanting or letting Tequila breathe or contrasting the difference between neat and on the rocks, this Tequila is versatile. Almost to the point of having multiple personalities. ”
