El Tequileño Reposado
“Really liked the flora notes in the aroma. A bit of a surprise but a welcome one. Solid agave flavor coming through with a nice rounding out by the barrel. It was slightly hot upon first sip but mellowed as time went on. Nothing complicated about the finish. A nice value for the expression and from a well-regarded producer.”

“On the nose I got coconut almost immediately which is pretty unusual in my experience. It’s there in the flavor as well with vanilla also prominent. Not a memorable finish but nothing bad about it. I’d definitely not turn this one down if offered!”

“I can’t quit looking at the color in this Riedel glass. Absolutely beautiful. On the nose I get a nice hit of caramel. The taste is a wonderful combination of caramel, oak, and cooked agave. Hardly any heat on this but the finish is a nice lingering warmth. I’ll definitely need to have this one around as an XA that others should be measured against.”

“Beautiful in the glass with a really nice clean, not at all syrupy viscosity. The aroma for me is grass and white pepper. Fresh out of the bottle, the first taste was a burst of flavors and heat. By the second sip my palate had adjusted to the higher proof and it was really delicious! I taste the grass but am picking up a sweeter profile with licorice, anise, and maybe even a hint of vanilla. Nice lingering warm finish making me want more!”

Finished with a bit of heat which is really the only thing that pulled it down in rating for me. Good stuff though!”

“Nice light straw color in the glass. Aroma of butterscotch right away but that doesn’t translate as strongly in flavor, though still there. Cooked agave sweetness, short finish without much heat. I can definitely sip this one and see it making a nice cocktail as well. Very good value here!”

“Sweet floral aroma with some honeysuckle there for me. Taste is also somewhat sweet with cooked agave and barrel notes coming through. Fairly long finish with some heat. Overall not really complex but a fantastic value and will definitely drink again.”

“Light golden color. Thin legs that move down fairly quickly. Cooked agave and some sort of baking spices and maybe hay on the nose. Tastes of sweet cooked agave and vanilla with a notable alcohol gum numbness that’s not unwelcome. Medium finish with some more ethanol heat and the only real place I detected any oak. Good sipper from a great distillery!”

Tequila G4 Blanco 108
“Clean and lovely legs and tears. The aroma is a brilliant pepper, cooked agave, and minerals which carry through to the taste with a somewhat oily mouthfeel that is nearly perfect in texture for me. Medium/long finish that ends with some black pepper and and nice heat. I tasted this one blind and was not at all surprised when it was revealed. Currently my #1 out of 1579 and, with the G4 repo being my going favorite regularly available in that expression, that's saying something for me!”

“Beautifully clear, with tears very slow to descend. Agave and ethanol up front on the nose with a vegetal agave and hot pepper on the palate. Long peppery finish with some grass in there somewhere towards the end. This was a blind tasting and another winner from Felipe at 1579!”

“Aroma: Beautiful raw and cooked agave. Some sweet floral notes as well. Taste: Nice mouthfeel, more agave, white pepper, some minerals, eucalyptus. Finish: medium with nice heat and that herbal eucalyptus thing hanging around. This is a really good one and well worth the bump in price over the other blancos from this wonderful distillery!”
More info →“A light straw color with really nice even legs and tears that take their time on the glass. The aroma is sweet cooked agave, hint of yeast, cinnamon, and a bit of ethanol and brine. The flavor has quite a bit going on and is really good! Nice mouthfeel with cooked agave at the forefront of course. I can definitely taste the ale (yeast & malt) but I also pick up notes from the other barrels, both sweet and wood. Surprisingly long peppery finish with a bit of bitterness that I have to believe comes from the hops. I love it!”

“I was very excited about this special bottling and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely in the glass. Some familiar brine on the nose but with a bit sharper ethanol than their previous blancos I’ve had. Not unwelcome at all. Mouthfeel is almost a perfect balance for me. The taste is so good...brine, grass, but with a white pepper and minerality that must be a result of the agaves from Arandas. Long finish leads me to wanting my next sip. Fantastic!”

LALO Tequila Blanco
“Perfectly clear in the glass. Some beads left after the tears have fallen. Nose: pleasant cooked and raw agave reminding me of a bright green, if colors could have an aroma. A bit of citrus zest with some baking spices. Palate: nice light, but viscous mouthfeel with cooked agave the dominant flavor. Some pepper, sweetness, and a clean ethanol burn on a short-medium finish. Impressed and delighted!”

“Aroma is cooked agave, some toasty cinnamon, a bit of black pepper and raw agave (or perhaps that’s citrus). Taste is a bit of black pepper spice up front followed by a nice mellow sweet agave and a hint of cinnamon with an herbal deal alongside. Medium finish and not overly complex. I like and will definitely buy again. Great value!”

“Nice viscosity on the glass. Crystal clear. The aroma is cooked and raw agave, floral, ethanol, not overly complex. Nice mouthfeel with a little burn up front, more raw agave & slight bitterness, then a touch of sweet cooked agave on a medium finish. Again not overly complex but a solid sipper and fantastic value!”
