“Tasted from a cocktail glass off of Fremont street in Vegas Nose: spicy and herbaceous, but it’s not what I’d expect from a traditional tequila. I’m kinda scared … The flavor is odd and it has a fake vanilla frosting to it that is not from a natural production process. There is no story to the finish and zero earthiness. It stays sweet for a long time before turning bitter. ”

“Using a Riedel tequila glass: this blanco has some nice floral and black pepper tones, along with a touch of peppermint candy on the nose. This is undeniably a traditional tequila from El Valle. With a nice, rounded texture, the palate delivers what is promised on the nose along with a bit of natural sweetness. This is not the biggest, boldest, and most complex of blancos, but it does have a decent finish. I think this would actually be a good Blanco starter for newbies but I will be using it for cocktails. San Diego Costco has these 1L bottles on close out for $24.87 (new packaging coming??) so I grabbed a few. Lote: LNV060BC040 02/02/2023”

“The nose on this is fucking fantastic!! Herbal, minty, cinnamon, butter, and loads of cooked agave! Nice punch on the front end with that signature white pepper of tequilas, real tequilas from Atotonilco. While not super complex, this tequila is big, bold, beautiful, honest, and true. Crisp and herbaceous on the front with a mid palate of butter and lemon/orange meringue along with a touch of cinnamon-sugar toast. Long, dry, slightly bitter, but with a very earthy finish. Definitely a must have for those who love traditional blancos!! ”

Siete Leguas "Siete Décadas" Blanco

“This tequila absolutely smells great as it’s being poured into the glass…Wow!! There is so much old school character, tons of cooked agave with white pepper, citrus, on the nose and it just screams “vintage Los Altos”. Smells like the texture is going to be light on the palate (with enough experience you will understand this statement) which it is - this blanco feels thin but it explodes with flavor and character; white pepper, jalapeño pepper, citrus, melted butter, dry earth, cooked agave, and lastly, a touch of grapefruit rind. With a long and complex finish that tells a story, Decades (2022??) is a delicate but complex, machismo, and delicious tequila. If I can speak freely, I’d like to address the elephant in the room; the price. We’ve seen it retail in Mexico for $4000mx and up to $299 in the US. While the cost in Mexico is high due to unnecessary and excessive taxes that undoubtedly line the pockets of the politicians, I would have loved to have sat in on the marketing meetings about this as I know that Juan Fernando Gonzales had absolutely no interest in doing a project like this but I love how his son Juanfer has stepped in and brought Siete Leguas into the modern era of spirits sales with a limited edition product. While 70,000 700ml bottles (49,000L) is far from “limited” in the world of artesanal agave distillates, it is a start. I might as well state my displeasure of a 700ml bottle at this point as well. I absolutely do not dig the “shrinkage” which is happening in the spirits industry. But back to the meeting; how did they arrive to a price point of $129?? Is this a pure Criollo tequila or just made with some criollos?? If it is the former, I do understand a there would be a hell of a lot of criollo blue agave harvested in order to have produced 37,418L of tequila at 55% abv (maybe one or two agave per liter??), but I am still at a loss of how they arrived at the current MSRP. Now, if it was a 1L bottle at 55%, I would gladly shell out $100 per bottle on a case or two - especially if the texture was bigger, thicker, and creamier as I would expect from a traditional, puro tahona tequila. At $129 or there abouts, I will begrudgingly buy 2, maybe 3 bottles (over time) only because I absolutely love and adore Siete Leguas. And of which, I should already have a bottle in my possession (I was sent a 2 oz taster from a friend), but either Sazerac or RNDC have not gotten any product to my very good friends at Old Town Tequila here in San Diego. Not only that, but Siete Leguas had promised Old Town a proper amount of product for being one of their best accounts in the US but for some reason, they are only getting 10 of the 167 6pk cases allocated to California and they still do not have a single bottle!! Now, if there were only 7,000 bottles for the entire world, I would totally and completely understand. But no, there are 70,000 bottles with 40,000 of them sent to the US. I am not sure if this bottling of Decades is a product that is supposed to last for years - if it is, the folks at Siete Leguas should let us know. Or if it’s going to be a yearly/bi-yearly release - which seems most likely due to the harvested ranch being on the label and some other info I may have seen on the back label, they should also let us know. If their importer or distributor are just dragging feet…we’ll, they need to get at it. Due to price point, 0 points were awarded for value. If this was a $50 blanco, it would have garnered a full 90 points. At the end of the day, this is a proper and delicious tequila! ”

Los Dos Tequila Blanco

“With a very light presence, my first whiff and I get notes of old-school tequila. Coming back and it becomes more vegetal and citrus driven with hints of dry earth. Big and creamy texture on the palate, this blanco explodes with flavors that are definitely found in the nose. So def not additives being used here. I love the big robust finish. Would buy & drink again as well as recommend this to everyone as a proper and traditional tequila! ”

Casamigos Tequila Blanco

“Super unique and funky aroma that took me by surprise with dark tones of chocolate and pleather. Love it because it’s different but equally hate it for being so LOL!! Starts off tasting like a standard tequila then turns into a fucking Tootsie Roll :/ The producer either got weird with yeasts or there’s some as Skid Row would say, “Monkey Business” going on!! Where is the agave?? Where is there a “sense of place”?? Meh. Would drink if it’s free, but never would spend a peso on this. I’d recommend it for someone to see what happens things get weird but not for the right reasons. Aka ADDITIVES!! ”

“Digging the unique and funky nose! Spices, mint, and dry earth, this is definitely a proper tequila! Easy on the palate but with enough pop to let you know it’s legit, this blanco has a nice, long finish that I dig! With some nice fruity elements and a light touch, this would be a great summer session tequila and perfect for long and refreshing cocktails. Definitely drink/buy again and recommend. ”

Nueveuno Tequila Blanco

“Pepper, vegetal, and earthy on the nose, it is easy to tell this is a traditional blanco tequila. Warm as and inviting like a long lost friend who embraces you with a long hug! The first sip rolls on my tongue like Hot Tamales - though not nearly as sweet - and confuses my brain; it’s almost like Jekyll and Hyde as it then begins to open up with more classic tequila notes that I found in the nose. While the finish is long, it’s pretty mild and simplistic. Not sure it it’s the specific bottling lote or if this is the consistent profile, but I’d drink this if it was offered, but not purchase. But, I would definitely recommend it for those newer to the world of tequila. ”

“Nose: floral with a touch of chlorine. Crisp vegetal and freshly cut agave, the nose opens up more revealing a mid entry ripe fruit note and an earthy undertone. I want to really dig but there is that top note of soap/chlorine. Really light in the palate with a creamy texture, it hits with miel de agave before leading to a warm spicy finish and then ending with the classic dusted dirt road that I adore . While the cleaner elements on the nose are a pit suspect, I really enjoy drinking this blanco and would definitely recommend it to all my tequila friends to taste because it’s not what you expect it to be. ”
