NOM 1500. Minty medicine smell on the nose. Agave, mint and alcohol taste. Very thin watery mouth feel. Minty alcohol finish that is quite long.

Clear with oily legs. Aroma and finish have a nice amount of cooked agave, black pepper, mint and a hint of vegetal. Pleasant medium finish.

NOM 1616 | Nose: A clean vegetal grassy aroma with undertones of white pepper and white fruit. Mild agave. Overall, a simple and gentle nose. Palate: Mild mouth feel and body. Flavor fades quickly and leaves me with a mild alcohol burn. Herbal and pepper, minor vanilla, agave, and olive.

NOM 1616 | Using a Riedel tequila glass: this blanco has some nice floral and black pepper tones, along with a touch of peppermint candy on the nose. This is undeniably a traditional tequila from El Valle. With a nice, rounded texture, the palate delivers what is promised on the nose along with a bit of natural sweetness. This is not the biggest, boldest, and most complex of blancos, but it does have a decent finish. I think this would actually be a good Blanco starter for newbies but I will be using it for cocktails. San Diego Costco has these 1L bottles on close out for $24.87 (new packaging coming??) so I grabbed a few. Lote: LNV060BC040 02/02/2023

NOM 1616 | There’s some nice and funky here, as they aren’t afraid to let the agave aromas and flavors shine through. Quite enjoyable.

NOM 1616 | Day 2: The first night the aromas were more crisp, fresh and subdued, hard for me to pin down (banana?), yet the yeast was prominent and made me think of bread. Tonight upon poring, the agave aroma dominates along with peppery brine, grassiness, watery caramel and ethyl. The taste captures the palate with agave, citrus, mint, orange peel, caramelized fruit but not tropical and yeast with peppery burnings dancing on the back of my tongue. Light and spicy. The dry down makes me think of wine, and as it fades, waffs of alcohol are present as it all converts into a pleasant wateriness.

NOM 1500 | I wanted to like this more. A sample was brought down to Mexico for me by a good friend. But it was just ho hum on all counts.

Beyond the pepper notes pretty bland

Super mild agave & citrus aromas. Better agave, citrus & mild pepper flavors. Smooth, very short finish. Too expensive to but a bottle so I snagged a 50 ml. I would definitely sip again, but probably wouldn’t buy a bottle.

1500 Tastings June 26 2022 NOM 1500 CÓDIGO EXPRESSIONS BLANCO Lote L041BCO40 NOSE Light/subtle aroma. Agave fruit pepper anise tiny bit of mint TASTE Subtle flavors may be due to the age and length of time the bottle has been open vanilla agave pepper and a little brine FINISH Fairly thin and subtle finish OTHER We got these Códigos when they first introduced em. I wanna say 2016/17?!? Bottles have been open for awhile with about 1/4 left in each so may have affected the aroma and taste ??? I'm unsure of the production methods of these NOM 1500 codigo expressions. TMM lists the new NOM 1616 production methods. I have read that the anejo was aged 18 mos in French oak cab barrels? OVERALL, I can see how people would enjoy these Código 1500 tequilas. Easy sippers. Just a little pricey for what it is

NOM 1616 | Alcohol, mint, pepper, agave, funk and bitterness greet you. It mellows as you go, but not the best start.

  • 74 Rating

NOM 1616 | Aroma is not good with alcohol overpowering all. No aromatic fun at all. Taste is not bad. But not good. Plain, a little too sweet with no punch. Finish is ok.

On the nose, I’m immediately by ethanol and something like acetone. Very vodka like. It mellows out and becomes decent as it opens up, with some notes of hay, and cut grass. The initial tasting is…not great. Lots of ethanol bitterness, but again, as it opens up, I get the agave, some cinnamon and spices. The ethanol never really disappears, but it sticks around with the other flavors. A little bit of citrus and vegetal notes. Overall I’m not really a fan, there’s much better blancos at this price range, I can’t say I’d buy a full sized bottle. Definitely glad they did the minis though. I have a mini of the blanco Rosa, we’ll see if a bit of wine barrel aging adds some complexity and mellows out those funky notes.

NOM 1616 | Aroma has some alcohol and a small amount of agave. The flavor is more agave with pepper. It finishes with more pepper and some sweetness. Good not great. Returned to this after 2 plus years. Still the same. Mediocre. There is a lingering aftertaste. It’s available locally but availability is not necessarily a reason to purchase. A similar situation to Patron.

NOM 1500 | Not bad. Loads of earthy vegetable ness .

Sampled neat, from a rocks glass, unfortunately, at a restaurant/bar. Perhaps it's my nose and/or the glass, but the aroma is mostly alcohol. The palate is much more agave forward than the nose and it has a nice oiliness. Some earthy and vegetal notes, as well. I would try again in proper glassware to reassess the aroma. The price is probably fair, but it's not very complex, so I would recommend to others, but I might not ever buy a bottle myself.

loved this Blanco! Really love their whole line of tequila nom 1500 and this blanco nom 1500 is in my blanco top 5. On the nose comes across a complex well balanced tequila from agave, pepper, citrus, grassy notes, earthiness and minerality. making it a lovely expression of tequila blanco. On the palate I get much of the same. lots of minerality and agave with refreshing citrus and silky texture and a long agave finish. I have to add that I don't think the minerality is for everyone.

NOM 1500 | Aroma: Light citrus and vegetal agave. Flavor: Nice velvety citrus flavor. Finish: Similar to aroma, smooth with a slight bite. Lingering finish, with some slight black pepper. Overall: A very nice blanco. Held its own when compared blind against Siete Leguas, Don Fulano, and Tequila Ocho blancos, placed in third.

NOM 1500 | smell reminds me a lot of el tesoro, however very short after taste. Lots of agave & herbal notes, however the price point hurts this tequila.

NOM 1500 | Short finish. Bitter with a bit of the raw agave taste. Would not mind sipping this, tastes natural.
