Cascahuín Destino
“The finish on this excellent. there’s balanced creamy sweetness with subtle pepper notes. let’s be real it’s novelty so I’m skipping overall price other than it being $25 at the bar I tasted it at. they didn’t know what they had. nose was weird for me with acetone and rubbing alcohol however that shifted with time into a sweet dough cakey like nose. overall enjoyable tequila.”

Chamucos Extra Añejo
“CASK Strength 44.4% ABV. | Once you give this some time to rest, the flavor bomb with many evolving layers dance on your palate. Viscous / silky mouthfeel. Toasted caramel, sweet cooked agave, rich oak. Finish is spectacular with a pleasant hang time that brings out baking spices, fruit and vanilla, with a smooth fade of roasted agave. A premium sipper that ranks with the best EA’s on the market. My goodness this is good! ”

Cascahuín Blanco
“For an 80 proof blanco, the nose packs a lot of flavor, and the palate, while a bit thin, certainly provides everything the nose promises. Strong agave with a vegetal green bell pepper addition. The finish is where this one suffers as it disappears much too quickly for my taste. It's not my favorite, but it's still a solid blanco at a great price.”

San Matias Gran Reserva (US)
“Nose: oak, vanilla, cooked agave, baking spices Flavor: oak, agave, vanilla, caramel, light mouthfeel Finish: very thin, short finish for an extra anejo Overall: not bad for the price, very affordable introduction to additive free extra añejos but not complex or full bodied to compete with good ones. The barrel notes overwhelm the agave and there is a bit of a burn but again for under $40, I can’t complain”

Tequila Primo 1861 Blanco (NOM 1579)
“Nose: Rich cooked agave jumps out first, surrounded by fresh mint, lime zest, and wet earth. It has a distinct, crisp mineral punch that is pure El Pandillo, layered with tiny hints of orange peel and white flowers. Palate: The cooked agave tastes incredibly sweet and caramelized right off the bat. Peppermint, black pepper, and citrus oil weave right through a silky, heavy texture that feels beautifully structured. Finish: Long, smooth, and noticeably oily. The peppery warmth hangs around a bit, leaving behind a clean fade of sweet agave and soft minerals. Overall: The 1579 release is all about precision and crispness. Felipe Camarena used 100% natural spring water for this run, making it a stellar example of highland brightness. A must-own if you can still track down one of these original bottles.”

More info →“8.21.26 Aroma: refreshing green agave and slight mint Taste: taste like distillery floors with a bit of heat. Chewy with mid mouthfeel Finish: numbing and some tingle but the burn is minimal for a HP. Mid-long finish ”

Chamucos Diablo Blanco
“Super unique strong, musty, earthy, cheesy, lactic funkness in the aroma & flavor of this high proof Blanco. Definitely some cooked agave & slight pepper & vegetal flavors, but the lactic aroma & flavor is the star of the show. Sipped in a flight w/ very different high proof Blancos Fortaleza Still Strength & Cascahuin Plata 48 @ Purgatory Agave last night in Spokane, Wa. I’ll definitely be seeking out Chamucos Diablo again.”
