“This is one of several higher proof tequilas I have started to venture into. In my area it is a few dollars less than Don Fulano Fuerte that is 100 proof, so I was more inclined to continue with G4 since I already live the blanco and reposado. On the initial sip to warm the palate, there is a little warmness but the agave is rich and flavorful. It was like it amplified the agave taste in the G4 blanco. It settles on the palate nicely and goes down smoothly. It’s balanced and exemplifies agave taste in its true form. The finish leaves a little black pepper, but nothing that feels overpowering or off putting. Between the value and the flavor profile, this is an easy winner to keep stocked. I drink my tequila neat without ice or anything else. I highly recommend this and feel like it is a sharp contender with Lalo’s limited high proof.”

“First on the palate there wasn’t much flavor. On the second sip, there is a little more sweetness like agave syrup added, but not much real agave flavor. The flavor is fairly dull and mute. The finish is easy and so is this in general. The bottle is elegant, but the tequila falls short of being notable. I have heard the upper lines of Don Ramon are good, but I would choose alot of other blancos over this. Also to note, I drink my tequila neat, so I don’t mix it or add ice. ”

“This repo by G4 is $55 in my area, which is on par for a good repo. The one thing I will say is that this is an agave first and forward tequila. Much like the G4 Blanco and the G4 108, it is rich agave and does not lean toward woody or sweet. It is smooth and delicious neat. Resting on the palate it is agave and a slight black pepper with a touch of natural salt that was pleasant. The finish is a light citrus, light black pepper, and goes down smoothly. It is a true stand out to the craftsmanship and art of tequila. Value and taste are amazing. ”

“I was hesitant with the proof, but this was an amazing blanco at 108 proof. The intense flavor of agave and smooth finish was surprising. I’m glad I got this bottle and tried it because it exemplifies the beauty of tequila at higher proofs without succumbing to that ethanol hit. This was so smooth and delicious that I hope they do another release. Truly amazing and at a great price!”

“It is overhyped and the price and palate profile make this more of a flex than enjoying a good tequila. There was nothing special on the nose. It wasn’t too sweet or too alcohol forward. It was a good sipper, but the price doesn’t make this an easy one to desire to drink or keep on hand. The 1.75ml bottle is cool and can be used as an infinity bottle, but overall this isn’t impressive for the price and hype. ”

Lunazul Extra Aged Añejo

“I’m not a huge fan of lunazul, but this is more of a mixer brand than one we think of for sipping. This extra anejo is done in Elijah Craig barrels and it shows. The aroma is settled and smooth. On the palate, the Elijah Craig finish comes through with some slight spice and wood and smooth. The finish is very short with not much lingering. At the price, there are anejos I would get. This Lunazul expression is good for people who don’t do tequila or want an easy sipper to drink. ”

“I had put this off because of hype and price, but was surprised. Nose is good with a little alcohol, but wood and slight natural sweetness in initial aroma. On the palate it is good and has more flavor than expected. The finish is a little bitter and a little bite, but this is a good sipper and nice bottle. The price is hard because it puts it up against (depending on your area and applicable taxes) tequila ocho and some others that are better in quality overall. The Deleon repo is good and worth having in your collection.”

“A friend got a bottle so I don’t know what they paid for it. The buffalo trace finished corazón reposado was good and wasn’t what I expected. I didn’t know what to expect with the BT finish. Corazon is a good value for sipping or mixing. I was expecting more bourbon barrel feel, but the barrel finish doesn’t eclipse the repo tequila. It was nice and smooth. I definitely recommend trying it a d others that do special barrel finishes like this. ”

“On first open, I had high expectations with it being discussed on TMM and youtube reviews. The bottle is white and looks nice. On the initial nose, rich agave and a little sea salt in the air feel. I let it air for about 15 mins before testing again. It has a slight (in a good way) salty brine, agave taste like Patron with citrus. HOWEVER, I let it sit for a week after initial opening and that was the secret. The nose mellowed to a nice agave. On the palate, the salty brine was gone and a nice citrus agave feel was now present. The finish smoothed out and went down with ease. This is a no brainer for top shelf margarita or having a little bit of salt and lime. Keep in mind the airing time duration. Price is on point for a nice blanco that easily competes with Patron. ”

“One thing I will say is that Codigo has distinction in its differing expressions. The anejo was slight on the nose with a touch of sweet wood. On the palate there was no burn, just smooth and delicious. If you like aged and smooth, this would pair well with a nice cigar by the water to relax. Price is always noted, but I would say there are some like this that might be worth it to treat yourself or gift to a friend. ”

“I didn’t know what to expect, but had high expectations. “Finishes” in bourdeaux wine, orange wine, and others seem to be getting popular with brands. This wasn’t much of a departure from the blanco except for a little bit of wood on the finish, which makes sense. It was good on the palate and the wood note creates a unique character. The price, as I have noted, is what holds Codigo back. But some brands want that price and limitation to make it more special.”

“Beautiful blanco that has great nose of agave and a little botanical hint. Feel was slightly thinner on palate but negligible when considering flavor. Complexity and agave balanced for nice sipper or top shelf margarita. The finish gives a little more of the citrus/botanical hint but hardly noticeable. The price is the only thing with Codigo that limits more people trying it and purchasing it. ”

“This was nice on the nose with a good cork pop (because that matters to people lol). No hard hit of anything on the nose but a mellow bouquet of agave. On the palate, this was smooth and was really nice. The finish was smooth, too, and just felt like what a nice blanco of true tequila and distillation. This is growing in popularity so I expect price to go up and availability to be scarce depending on your location.”
